Rattan In Southwestern Home?
30.01.2010
My boyfriend did buy a house which is pretty much south western style (wall colors are earth tone, rustic light fixtures). He also got a rustic pine Santa Fe style TV armoire. Now he has a chance to get a wicker love seat and matching armchair with black and white cushions) at a relatively good price. I would have suggested a neutral (tan, brown…) color fabric or leather sofa. To me wicker or rattan would not go with that style. Any suggestions?

If you do a search online for Southwest Style Furnishings, you may see some rattan chairs. They are more contemporary. As for wicker, depending on the style–you may not want a “froufrou” style, you know, the kind you see in old fashioned settings or on front porches, with quilts and glasses of lemonade. You can always paint the wicker, and buy or make new cushions. Maybe even recover the current black and white ones. I’d like the cushions in a soft brown or tan suede or suede-cloth, with the wicker or rattan in a reddish-brown color.
