i have patio chairs that have a dark brown varnish on them. the back rest is all faded and is now like a light cream color. i want to refinish them. do i need to take off all of the varnish on other areas first, if so how, and what do i use to re-finish them? is it easier to repaint instead? thank you!

I tried dusting it with a feather duster but it doesn’t get cleaned.
And a damp rag catches when I ’scan’ over an area. :/
It’s the one described as “Hampton ball lamp” on this page (have also got a tall floor lamp in this style):http://johnerdosgallery.com/lampsandligh…
Thank you in advance.

Good rattan 1 is pretty tough & will take a good scrubbing.
If you want to retain the natural finish a strong solution of Mex ( follow directions) & a scrub brush will do & even lighten up dark spots ( similar to caustic used in shop)
Washing will not harm it , but it will cause the piece to loosen up. Use some rope to hold it in shape while it dries.
Reglue joints if necessary.
A very light sanding or a rub w/ bronze wool will get rid of any “hairs” that might pop up.
If you like the results you can keep the natural look by using shellac or varnish ( spray cans ) or applying an oil finish.
Old pieces very often had no “finish” at all
Staining rattan is difficult after “stripping” without applying a tinted clear finish with spray equipment
If you intend to paint ,give it same cleaning use spray cans like Krylon.
You can expect good DIY results w/ out fancy tools & equipment.
Good luck

Are you referring to using a cane to administer corporal punishment? If so, it has been determined by the vast majority of educators (in the United States) that it is not an effective form of discipline.

its a full circle, and the part that is supposed to be attached to the bag has wicker there, so how do i attach it to the fabric without covering up the wicker part that makes it look unique?

My apartment walls are of 2 shades of gray – one similar to white and the other is light cool gray. Im keen to buy rattan 1 – do you think they will match? wat colours should i be looking at? as i know, most rattan sofas are in their natural colours or dark brown(i mean the rattan part). If so, I should be looking at the colour of the sofa’s fabric? Im not keen to have white or black though.

This site is the Rattan 1 products.
